Eastpointe City Council has approved a 1-acre dog park at the north end of Memorial Park along 10 Mile Rd.

What is a dog park?
The ideal dog park is a designated, fenced-in area where people can bring their dogs to play and run off-leash. A dog park can be a great place to share and distribute information pertaining to dog care and training. For dog owners with limited mobility, it can be a place to socialize with other dog owners and exercise their dogs.

Why have a dog park?
A report on off-leash dog parks by Portland Parks and Recreation states that "There is a newly identified parks user group: Dogs and their owners. This user group is drawn to parks for open space, fresh air, exercise and socialization for themselves and their pets. Coming to a park is their chosen form of recreation, much the same as jogging or biking. They are legitimate park users."

Community benefits:
	Socializes and exercises dogs in a safe environment.
	Promotes responsible pet ownership.
	Provides elderly and disabled owners with an accessible place to exercise their companions.
	Enables dogs to legally run off-leash.
	Promotes public health and safety.
	Provides a tool for realistic enforcement of dog control laws.

Typical dog park rules:
	Aggressive dogs are not allowed.
	Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs.
	Dogs should not be left unattended.
	Dogs should be up-to-date on vaccinations.
	No food is allowed in the park.
	Small children are not allowed in the park. Older children are allowed in the park with a parent.

ANN ARBOR
Olson Park & Swift Run

Paw Run Recreation Area
Located in Webster Township on North Territorial Road approximately four miles west of US-23 and 10 miles from downtown Ann Arbor. 18 fenced acres, a pond and an agility yard, a secure double-gated entry system, off-street parking, seating for humans and available water for humans and dogs. BIRMINGHAM
Lincoln Hills Golf Course
Dog park open daily, dawn to dusk. As of March 21, 2011, city is seeking bids for a key fob system. Dog owners must apply for use of the park. Annual fees will be $50 for residents and $200 for nonresidents. Capacity is limited to 10 dogs at at time. Park is located at the southeast corner of Lincoln Hills Golf Course. PINCKNEY
Arise Church Community Dog Park

Hours: Mon-Sat Dawn to Dusk, Sunday Noon-Dusk

Just like God's love, our park is totally free to the public. Our greatest hope for the park is for dog owners to meet other dog owners and make friends. Our park is nearly 2 acres, fenced, double entry gate, water bowl, benches. Not a lot of shade yet, we are hoping to add shade/structure as the park develops. Located on Dexter Pinckney Road about 2.5 miles south of M-36, just south of the Pinckney High school, just past Darwin Road. Look for the Arise Church sign, turn in the driveway and follow the dog park signs.

PLEASANT RIDGE
Directions: Take I-696 to Woodward, go south on Woodward to first turnaround, then head north on Woodward to Sylvan. Turn right on Sylvan, then left on Indiana and take until it deadends. Area is about a half mile long by 150 feet wide. Benches, limited parking, water fountain. Registration for park pass card and fee required. Yearly fee is $25 for residents, $60 for non-residents, with proof of a current rabies vaccination, valid for remainder of year.

WARREN
Anne Fracassa Memorial Dog Park
On the south side of 12 Mile, just west of Van Dyke, at the end of Pauline Street. Open 7am - dusk.
Open year-round. Fenced-in, 350 x 150 feet in size. Water source, benches. Requires purchase of park pass card. Must show proof of vaccinations. Park rules available in clerk's office at 29500 Van Dyke.

WESTLAND
Dog park located at Hines Park, Hawthorne Ridge (just west of Merriman Road). New location is closer to parking and bathrooms.

Park will be temporarily closed May 2-27 to allow grass to grow. Register for a new membership card: DOWNLOAD FORM (PDF)
